    When the father of four children is suddenly killed, their mother takes  

      them to the family home she fled 17 years earlier. Their fierce and    

   frightening grandmother locks them in an upstairs room in the deserted  

    north wing of the family mansion, from which the only escape is into the  

    cluttered and cobwebbed attic. There they are to wait while their greedy  

   mother campaigns for their grandfather's considerable wealth with the
